Medical work

The clinical base of the Department of Pediatrics is a departments of the Municipal non-profit enterprise “Children’s Clinical Hospital of Saint Zinaida” Sumy City Council, in which the teaching staff of the department are constantly carried out medical and consultative work in various fields of pediatrics: general pediatrics, infectious diseases, Cardiology, Allergy, gastroduodenal and respiratory diseases, etc.

Сooperation the department with health care institutions are coordinated through the deanery and postgraduate medical education associated with children’s medical institutions of the Sumy and Sumy region. At the chair, together with the hospital administration is compiled the joint work plan for the next year at the end of the current year.

In addition, together with the department of pediatrics with a course of medical genetics is compiled plan of work of scientific and practical society of pediatricians in the year staff of the department and monthly report about the new achievements in the diagnosis and prevention of diseases of childhood.

Main directions of work:

• development of local standards of treatment;

• treatment, diagnostic and consultative work in the departments of the hospital, children’s clinics of the city and other medical institutions of the region;

• introduction of new methods of diagnosis and treatment;

• lectures to doctors on actual issues of pediatrics;

• expert evaluation of case histories;

• participation in medical conferences;

• reviewing case histories with fatal ending;

• holding of medical and consulting, pathoanatomical conferences.

Clinical work is distributed between staff of the Department as follows:

• Professor Smiyan A.I. is conducting clinical rounds in the intensive care department every day, in other departments – on schedule of clinical rounds;

• Associate Professor Romaniuk O.K – consultant in II infection department;

• Associate Professor Sichnenko P.I. – consultant in Pediatric department and intensive care department;

• Associate Professor Gorbas V.A.-  consultant in  I infectious department;

• Assistant Manko Iu.A. – curator of the patients in the pediatric department;

• Assistant Vasilyeva O.G. – curator of the patients in the pediatric department;

• Assistant Smiian E.A. – curator of the patients in the І infectious department.

Chairs Staff actively participate in meetings of the Commission on the fight against infant mortality in the provincial and city health departments, in the work of collegium of Health Management, the Accreditation Commission of the Health Management, in a selector meeting, the hospital medical meetings.

All professors and associate professors have the highest medical category.

Professor Smiyan A.I. is the chairman of the regional association of pediatricians.

Analysis of clinical work is conducted at the meeting of the Department weekly with registration protocol. Report on the medical work of the department is at the council of hospital and annually – at the Scientific Council of the faculty.
